Iwaki Magnetic-Drive Process Pumps in Turkey

In Turkey, Mikron Proses supplies Iwaki magnetic-drive (sealless) process pumps as the Iwaki distributor. Series cover GFRPP, CFRETFE, PVDF, PFA and 316 stainless steel wetted parts for corrosive acids, bases, solvents and high-purity chemicals.

What magnetic-drive pumps do

Magnetic-drive (sealless) process pumps move corrosive acids, bases, solvents and high-purity chemicals without leakage. An outer magnet on the motor shaft turns a canned inner magnet inside a hermetic rear casing, isolating the fluid completely. With no dynamic shaft seal there is no seal leakage and no seal flush water. This makes the technology suitable for chemicals, water treatment, surface treatment/galvanizing, semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries.

How to select the right series

Series selection uses four data points: fluid chemical name, concentration and temperature; duty point (flow and total dynamic head); suction condition; and solids and viscosity. Casing materials include GFRPP, CFRETFE, PVDF, PFA and 316 stainless steel.

  • GFRPP housings (MD, MX, SMX) cover many standard acid and alkali solutions at 0-80 °C
  • For strong oxidising acids, organic solvents or high temperature, choose CFRETFE, PVDF or PFA wetted series
  • Standard centrifugal magnetic pumps (MD, MX, MDM) are not self-priming and need positive suction head
  • For suction above liquid level choose SMX (GFRPP) or SMX-F (CFRETFE) or the air-operated TC-X

Data come from Iwaki product catalogues; flow and head are series maxima and may belong to different models. Duty point (Q-H curve) and fluid specific gravity must be checked to confirm motor power.

Dry-running considerations

Standard magnetic pumps lubricate and cool bearings with the pumped liquid, so dry running quickly damages bearing, shaft and magnet capsule. The MX series has a split volute and self-radiating design that limits heating. The MDM CF-type carbon bearing with patented non-contact mechanism resists short dry running. A dry-run protection relay or flow/level interlock is recommended on all magnetic pumps.

Applications

Typical lines include: chemical tank unloading and transfer of HCl, H2SO4, NaOH, NaOCl and coagulants (MX, MX-F, MDM, SMX); scrubber and surface-treatment circulation (MD, MX, MXM); water-treatment and CIP chemical feed including RO CIP skids and demineralisation regeneration lines; and semiconductor/PV wet processes (FA, FS, FW-H).

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Technical answers from Mikron Proses.

Who supplies Iwaki magnetic-drive pumps in Turkey?

Mikron Proses is the Iwaki distributor in Turkey. The company provides series selection, duty-point verification, commissioning guidance and original wet-end spare parts.

What is the difference between MX and MX-F?

Both are centrifugal magnetic-drive pumps, but MX uses GFRPP wetted parts with flow up to 800 L/min (48 m³/h) and head up to 35 m at 0-80 °C, while MX-F uses CFRETFE for stronger chemical resistance with flow up to 510 L/min (30.6 m³/h) and head up to 29.5 m at 0-80 °C (10-80 °C with AFLAS O-rings).

Can magnetic-drive pumps run dry?

Standard magnetic pumps cannot run dry; the pumped liquid lubricates and cools the bearings. Dry running damages the bearing, shaft and magnet capsule quickly. The MDM with CF-type carbon bearing and patented non-contact mechanism resists short dry running. A dry-run protection relay or flow/level interlock is recommended on all units.

Which series should I choose for suction above tank level?

Standard centrifugal magnetic pumps (MD, MX, MDM) need positive suction head and are not self-priming. For suction above liquid level, choose the self-priming SMX (GFRPP) or SMX-F (CFRETFE), or the air-operated double-diaphragm TC-X.

What is the highest temperature available in the plastic/fluoropolymer range?

Among the plastic and fluoropolymer series, the PFA-lined MDM and MDM NP operate from -20 to 150 °C, while the MDE handles 0-100 °C and the MDW handles -10 to 105 °C (ETFE) or -10 to 120 °C (PFA, MDW50). The PTFE/PFA bellows pumps (FA / FS / FW-H) reach up to 180 °C (FS-100HT2). Among metallic magnetic pumps, the MTFO runs from -80 to +280 °C, and the MH/MMH variants of the MP and MMP series reach +280 °C.
